Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Angelo Farrugia, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malta within his official visit to this country

At the meeting, the sides expressed their satisfaction with the current level of cooperation and mutual high-level visits between Azerbaijan and Malta. It was stressed that such visits are very important in terms of expanding the bilateral relations.

The sides emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy and hailed the importance of cooperation between the legislative bodies of two countries. They commended the contributions of parliamentary friendship groups to advance these relations.

Speaker Angelo Farrugia recalled his visits to Azerbaijan and shared his positive impressions about our country.

Minister Elmar Mammadyarov informed about ongoing negotiations on the draft Strategic Partnership Agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union. Touching upon the negotiations process on the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Minister reiterated the position of Azerbaijan that this conflict must be resolved on the basis of norms and principles of international law within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on enhancement of cooperation within international organisations as well as other issues of mutual interest.

At the end Minister Elmar Mammadyarov put remarks in the Guest Book of the Parliament.
